Because they are the first person every member sees, and almost nobody writes them anything.
Front desk work only gets noticed when it goes wrong. The line moves, the phone gets answered, the new member gets shown around, and the day runs on somebody being reliably warm at seven in the morning. The chorus is the phrase that crew already says out loud a hundred times a shift, which is exactly why it works as a hook. Everyone who hears it recognizes it as theirs.
The second verse is the one that matters most. The first verse is what the crew see all morning. The second is what it costs them, right through to the drive home with the radio low, humming the part where somebody else is supposed to sing back.
That is the whole idea behind an appreciation song. It is not a plaque and it is not a gift card. It is three minutes that names what somebody actually does, in a form they can play again.
